The practical test
From 2toDrive at 17 to the exam anxiety test and the BNOR test. What each test involves and how to authorise the school.
It is possible to take the practical test from the age of 17, which is called 2toDrive. If you pass, you may drive until the age of 18 accompanied by a coach, and you choose that coach yourself. From the day you turn 18 you may drive without a coach.
The intermediate test
If you want to get used to the exam situation or want tips from a CBR examiner, you can take an intermediate test. This test closely resembles a real practical test. The examiner assesses whether you can drive safely and independently and whether you take sufficient account of other road users. Afterwards you receive advice on what still needs practice.
With the intermediate test you can earn exemptions for the special manoeuvres, which means you will not be tested on them during your practical test. The exemption applies only to the next practical test.
What Wietze thinks. Personally I find the price of the intermediate test too big a drawback, because the CBR charges as much for it as for a real practical test. I therefore hardly ever work with the intermediate test. But if it seems useful to you, it is of course always possible.
The exam anxiety test
Besides the ordinary practical test there is the option of taking a test designed for people who suffer from exam anxiety. You get an examiner trained in guiding people with exam anxiety, and more time is taken beforehand to put you at ease.
If the tension becomes too high during the drive, you may take a time out. You park the car in a safe place and continue as soon as you feel calm enough. Because more time is taken, the whole test lasts 80 minutes instead of the 55 minutes of an ordinary test. The drive itself remains the same at 35 minutes.
The BNOR test
If you fail the practical test four times, you take a special test afterwards. This is called a further assessment of driving skill, abbreviated BNOR. You get more time and more personal guidance.
Authorising the driving school
Only your driving school can apply for your practical test, and for that the school needs your permission. You give permission by authorising the school on the CBR website. You need the driving school number for this. For Autorijschool Hoekstra that is 1242A8.
